Is there any feature in your car that you've never used or consider useless?
The Citroen has this thing that analyses the gap between cars and tells you if the C5 fits or not, I have eyes and common sense so it's pretty much useless to me, I've never bothered with it.

hmm... Power steering? I hate it. I want to delete mine but I also want to sell my car.

Rear Defrost button.
It doesn't work so I never use it. It's also useless!

As crazy as it sounds, cruise control.
I just don't feel like I have enough control over everything when it's on. I always try to use it and shut it off after a few minutes, even on my 3 hour drive upstate.

I don't use it either, I like to be in control and we don't have many highways here.

Driving an 85 4Runner there isn't much to be useless, but rear wiper would probably be the one for me. That or A/C, even though I live in Southern California.

My car has a pen holder in the center console (not my pic but same model) that coincidentally doesn't hold pens very well (a sharp turn causes the pen to fly out). The fact that I only figured out what the hell it was last week after three years of ownership shows exactly how useless it is. Or how thick I am, one of the two...

Selling it would solve both problems haha.

yes sell it and by a car that never had it.

The brake pedal.

The ECT Power button on my transmission. Honestly, I think it's a placebo button. I don't notice any difference in regular or power mode.
Also, in the first two Camry generations, you had to press a button to take the key out. The button was located right above the ignition. I have no idea why they did that, but at least they don't do it anymore. And yes, they had the placebo ECT Power mode too.

I don't let pens inside my car, pens have ink, leather and plastic don't like ink very much.

Why would you even need those when handbrakes exist?

My GMC Sierra's (and my old Ford Ranger's) cargo lights.

I only use the "S" button on my transmission when overtaking on small roads. To take the key out or to turn the whole think off and then take them out?

I guess it'll never be dark enough for one not to see their truck bed.

A/C is a curious answer, but again, I've only pushed the Parking Brake button on my car 3 times.

You got the right idea. I deliver pizzas so I have to carry those potential ink-bombs around in my pockets for when customers need to sign credit card receipts :|

Windows down is just more pleasant to me. Also the 4Runner really being just a pickup with a different body the A/C isn't really good enough to cool off the whole truck. And now that I think of it there is a tiny little light in the back cargo area on the side panel. They put it almost directly behind the factory roll bar and I have a bed in the back, so it takes the cake for being absolutely, completely utterly useless.

uh... e-brake? I usually end up in vans and SUVs so I've never used it. I guess I like that it's there.
I've never had a car where the rear windshield wiper did jack shit. Usually it straight up doesn't work but the few times it has, it's been on cars where it's so small it hardly makes a difference.
AM Radio.
Hell, as someone who grew up with smartphones, XM. On top of the obvious redudancy (I could download Pandora...), I've found XM coverage to be absolutely awful.
Minivans sometimes have rear windows which can be angled open (see this opened one). I don't get it. And not only is it useless but it's obnoxious because I'll reach down to open the windows, and accidentally get that instead. Then, because my van is old, it doesn't close.
Stereo controls on the steering wheel. The actual stereo isn't that far away.
I don't know why you'd want to turn off Cruise Control, but every car I've been in has had a button to turn off Cruise Control. Not just cancel it, but disable the function. And, annoyingly, my dad has a Honda with a light to constantly remind you when you have the Cruise Control on. Not, like, set and active, just a light that says "Cruise Control" that's always on unless you disable the ability to use Cruise Control.
Heated seats I just don't like. I hardly use AC to begin with, I'm more of a roll down windows or wear a hoodie person, but heated seats just feel uncomfortable.

A light that is blocked by something that came from the factory, you win.

Thats what those are, their so useless everyone has seen them but some dont even know what they are for

*mostly* blocked. Cant completely diss Toyota for that move, though it is a useless light. It is wired in such a way that it will only come on with the parking lights and is so low down that were you trying to use it to see things, those things would block the light.

The ECON button on my Honda Civic. Its already too slow as it is, why would I want to make it slower by dampening throttle response, making it shift earlier, and always be in too high of a gear?

Traction control.

I am actually diagnosing my cruise control today in ord to fix it. The fact that it doesn't work drives me nuts. And I only have a 17 mile commute. If I am going to be doing a constant speed, I don't see why I shouldn't use it.

Any particular car in mind to fit that bill? Probably going to be old and small.
![]() 08/10/2014 at 10:41 |

I think just to take it out, but I don't remember as I haven't had that car for a few years now.

no not really. I want another 4th gen Civic hatchback, but they are getting expensive for me ATM. Right now the only two clean ones I've found are both at least 4000 bucks. Do NA Miatas have Power Steering? I would guess not.

according to the owner's manual, the pajero (montero/shogun) has seats that can form a bed. never did get to use it, let alone try and see how that works.
